All the joys of spring for the CAFT Frosty Bike Ride!

An unexpected warm spell (despite the recent chilly weather) meant a thawing for this year’s Frosty Bike Ride which helped local children’s charity the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust to raise a very sunny £4,000!

100 cyclists turned the lanes of Cheshire yellow as they each donned a fluffy Easter chick costume to cycle one of four routes – including a new 10 mile family route.

The sight of 100 cycling chicks certainly turned a few heads and attracted scores of spectators on Sunday 25th March at the charity’s annual event organised in conjunction with Altrincham-based cycling club The Timperley Boneshakers.

Cyclists were provided with breakfast before setting off in their colourful Easter outfits, taking in routes ranging from 10 miles to 80 miles!

Participants were rewarded with a delicious BBQ at the charity’s base in Millington, cooked by the charity’s staff and volunteers.

This year’s event had some added ‘egg-stras’ as the little chicks (kids) were invited to take part in a fun Easter Egg Hunt around the charity’s ten acre site.

Challenges fundraiser at CAFT, Jure Modic commented:  “This was a fabulous event, everyone had the most amazing day.

“The weather was much warmer than we could ever have hoped for, and it was lovely to see so many Easter chicks having so much fun!

“The money raised will help us to change the lives of ill, disabled and disadvantaged children from all over our region, we really can’t thank everyone involved enough.”

The charity has a whole range of events and challenges planned for 2018. You can find out more by visiting their website or by calling the fundraising office on 01565 830 053.
