Another amazing year for Poynton High School A Level students

The sixth form ‘Class of 2018’ are a truly awe-inspiring set of young people, according to teachers at Poynton High School.

This year’s cohort have achieved the best results the school has ever had within its sixth form, and their success builds on the record levels of achievement for each of the last 5 years.

This year’s A Level exam results represent thousands of hours of hard work and revision, along with much support and guidance from both staff and parents.

Upon hearing news of the post 16 students’ achievements for 2018, headteacher David Waugh, said: “Once again, Poynton High School Sixth Form students prove that they are simply inspirational.”

Students and staff are celebrating another record-breaking year – with around 150 Year 13 students taking more than 450 A Level exams and BTEC assessments.

They have achieved record results across the board, including:

10% of all A Levels being graded at the highest possible A* Grade

30% graded as A* or A

Student results have been exceptionally high at all levels, and in all subjects, with five students gaining straight A* grades.

Almost 80% of all A Levels were graded at A* – C and the overall pass rate was in excess of 99%.
