There are many health benefits to packing in smoking, which include: lung capacity returns to normal, carbon monoxide levels decrease, blood pressure and pulse rates return to normal, sense of taste and smell improve and better general wellbeing.

At Pinches Medical & Wellbeing, we are looking to support you in your quitting journey.

Annette Boden MSc, Pinches’ in-house counsellor and hypnotherapist has had many success stories with patients looking to quit smoking with hypnotherapy.

Hypnosis is one of the most effective ways of giving up smoking.

A study carried out by the University of Iowa which was published in the Journal of Applied Psychology, clearly showed that people were six times more likely to give up smoking after a single session of hypnotherapy, they also remained non-smokers for over 12 months after the session.

This was in comparison to those who used nicotine replacement therapy.

Testimonial

The following testimonial is from one of Annette’s patients who was struggling to give up smoking with other conventional methods, so she decided to give hypnotherapy a try and has managed to stop smoking with this method.

“I had originally stopped smoking over 12 years ago and managed to stay stopped for 6 years after I had my first child, then due to stressful periods in my life I started smoking again.

“When I decided that I must quit again I decided to find a hypnotherapist, I had heard of friends having great success with hypnotherapy.

“I did some research and was pleased to find Annette Boden, who is just up the road from where I live at Pinches Medical.

“Annette made me feel very comfortable and very at ease. During the session we had a consultation where I detailed my smoking habits and general lifestyle habits.

“We also looked at stress and anxiety, how I deal with triggers, we reviewed the dangers of smoking and looked at the health benefits that I will gain from stopping smoking.

“After this consultation, we began the hypnosis session. I have to say I was very sceptical to begin with but I haven’t had a cigarette now for over 7 days.

“I thought I would really miss the habit or I would at least be grumpy with the lack of nicotine but I have felt happier and lighter than usual.

“I have to say I am really impressed with how I feel towards smoking.

“It is possible to stop in one session however I have decided to have a second top-up session to be certain that this time I will stop smoking for good.”

Hypnotherapy can work on so many different problems not just smoking cessation.

Annette also has had success with patients who suffer with depression, anxiety, phobias, weight loss, fear of flying.
