Ladies dodgeball team Cheadle & Gatley Griffins, were originally a group set up in October 2016 as part of a “Wish I Tried” incentive in Stockport.
Attracting members from Wilmslow, Handforth, Heald Green, Cheadle and more, the Cheadle and Gatley Griffins is a group of ladies with a sole purpose: to have fun.
A spokesperson for the group said: “It can get competitive and it can be tiring but it’s a great way of keeping fit and meeting new people with the same interests.”
Eighteen months since first establishing itself, two of the members (Emma Milser and Linzi McCoy) have qualified as British Dodgeball level 2 coaches and run the sessions on a Tuesday evening locally at Cheadle College.
The group is entirely self-sufficient and is a British Dodgeball recognised club. The subs that are paid each week, on a pay when you play basis, go towards funding the club.
The team members’ ages range from 18 to 50+ and the focus of the sessions is to have fun and make new friends along the way.
The team at Cheadle and Gatley Griffins is looking to encourage new members into the group.
Eighteen months ago none of them had done if before and now the team is growing in size, with members from Gatley, Cheadle, Wilmslow, Heald Green and more.
Sessions take place every Tuesday (7:45pm to 8:45pm) at Cheadle College, Cheadle Road, Cheadle Hulme, SK8 5HA.
