The annual Cheshire and Warrington Summer School Games 2018 has seen eight different sports competitions taking place at Macclesfield Leisure Centre and Fallibroome Academy today (Wednesday 11th July) at the event’s county finals.
The finest young sporting talents will compete in a series of sporting activities including: athletics, gymnastics, new age kurling, orienteering, tennis, tri golf, inclusive tennis and inclusive tri golf.
Participants from more than 300 local primary and secondary schools took part in the local competitions for an opportunity to showcase their sporting talent at the finals.
As well as encouraging young people to take part in sports competitions, the initiative helps promote physical activity and encourages young people to get active in a fun way.
Alongside the competition will be a non-competitive ‘have-a-go’ zone to encourage all children to be more physically active and find enjoyment in active play.
The smooth running of each competition will be made possible by 100 school games makers, ensuring the games is truly delivered on its motto of ‘for young people, by young people’.
