Chilli Banana Knutsford hosts VIP launch

Cheshire Set flock to restaurant’s opening night party

The “who’s who” of Cheshire descended upon Knutsford to celebrate the launch of the Chilli Banana at a glitzy bash along King Street last week.

It was a party with plenty of style, as the newly-launched Thai restaurant threw open its doors to a host of celebrities and VIP guests.

The brand, which serves traditional Thai dishes, already operates venues in Bramhall, Wilmslow, Macclesfield and Liverpool and its owners are reported to have lavished £1.3m on the former Man Zen site to transform it into a snazzy new eatery, with large central bar area and bold interior design.

The launch event on Thursday night certainly brought out the crowds - with a host of famous faces joining the revels, including football players Erik Pieters and his wife, Real Housewives of Cheshire star, Nermina.

Football manager Steve Bruce and his wife Janet were in attendance, as was former Bolton Wanderers star Jay Lloyd Samuel plus Chantelle Heskey (wife of former England footballer Emile).

Guests tucked into a range of canapés and signature cocktails, while DJ Shine kept them all on their toes playing his eclectic mix of soul music.

The restaurant occupies the ground floor of the elegant King Street location and the restaurant is now fully opened to the public.

Managing director Adrian Lee says they’ve already been busy planning bookings.

He said: “We’ve been really pleased with the interest so far and we’re just looking forward to welcoming all our new customers through the doors.”

He added: “People can expect freshly cooked, high quality Thai food. While there will be classic dishes such as green curry and pad thai we will also be creating some more unusual dishes from around Thailand.

“We will have a changing special menu if people want something a little different and a lunchtime menu that won’t break the bank.”
