Local historian Mike Royden will be visiting two Cheshire West libraries to give talks on the impact of World War 1 on the borough’s communities.

The events have been organised to coincide with the forthcoming centenary of the end of World War 1.

Mr Royden has been researching and writing about various aspects of the history in the Liverpool, Merseyside, south west Lancashire and Cheshire area for over 30 years. He has published several books.

His talks will take place at Little Sutton Library on Monday 29th October at 7pm and Lache Library on Thursday 8th November at 5.30pm.

Tickets cost £5 and are available from the individual libraries.

Mr Royden will talk about the impact of the First World War on local communities in Wirral and Cheshire, not only on the men and women directly involved in the conflict but also on those at home and the effects of the War in the years after it ended.

Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Cllr Louise Gittins said: “I’m delighted that Mr Royden is able to share his considerable knowledge at some of our libraries, especially with the forthcoming centenary of the World War 1.

“This is another example of the wide variety of events and activities that take place at our libraries across Cheshire West.”
