The Wilmslow Business Group has reformed, after the entire board of directors stood down earlier in the year and left the group’s future looking perilous.
In a particularly apt opening night, the relaunched group’s inaugural keynote speaker was Tony Mundin.
Tony is the driving force behind the most significant current town centre development in Wilmslow, the Rex Cinema.
He joined the meeting straight from working on the site, with just weeks until the eagerly anticipated opening night (set to be announced at the Wilmslow Christmas lights switch on event).
Addressing a packed audience of local businesses, Tony outlined the vision for the cinema, revealing the journey that he and his family have been on since the opening of their first venue in Melton Mowbray.
The Rex will be the Mundins’ fourth boutique cinema, with two screens, a bar/lounge and a VIP area.
A spokesperson for Wilmslow Business Group commented: “His very genuine commitment to the town and to the project the family have undertaken was evident as he explained the commercial reality of running a boutique cinema operation.”
The Wilmslow Business Group meeting, held at the Coach & Four pub, also heard more about plans for 2019, both online and offline, including a raft of guest speakers, events and opportunities to network and build business relationships.
