Local chamber of commerce rebrands

Macclesfield Chamber of Commerce & Enterprise has completed its successful rebranding to become ‘North Cheshire Chamber of Commerce & Enterprise’ with local MP David Rutley joining its members for the official launch recently.

At the well-attended event, held at Macclesfield Town Hall, many of the three hundred local businesses that the chamber represents were present to celebrate the launch, and to highlight the many benefits of being a chamber member.

Membership covers a wide range of sectors and businesses, from start-ups and small and medium-sized businesses to sole traders and multinationals.

The decision to rebrand was taken to reflect the Chamber’s expanding business support role beyond Macclesfield, to include all of North Cheshire.

David spoke with the chamber’s chief executive, Sue Bowden, and learned more from her about the chamber’s future plans to support more businesses across North Cheshire to create a thriving and sustainable environment in which local enterprise can flourish.

North Cheshire Chamber of Commerce traces its origins back to the 19th Century, when it was founded to lobby government on issues such as taxation.

One of its first presidents was politician and Macclesfield silk merchant William Coare Brocklehurst.

Today, the chamber helps local businesses to make contacts; advise on, and solve, problems; and to maximise opportunities to expand and grow.

David Rutley commented: “As the impressive turnout demonstrated, North Cheshire Chamber of Commerce & Enterprise provides invaluable support and advice to a wide range of local businesses, and it continues to go from strength to strength.

“There are clear benefits to being a member of the chamber and I would encourage more local businesses to look into joining this growing and important network.

“I am very grateful for all the hard work that Sue Bowden and her team do to support the local economy.”

Any local businesses interested in joining North Cheshire Chamber of Commerce & Enterprise can phone 01625 665 940 to request a membership pack, or apply online at www.northcheshirechamber.co.uk.
