Middlewich FAB Festival – parade, market and more!

Shares

Middlewich FAB Festival organisers are pleased to announce their new parade route for 2018, along with the inclusion of a Mexon Market plus much more besides.

This year the festival is getting ready to offer people of all ages the most fun weekend of the year (15th – 17th June) with incredible performances on stage accompanied off-stage by tempting food and drink stands, the famous Middlewich Floating Market as well as the Mexon Street Market on Wheelock Street plus a fun fair and kids’ rides.

Each year, Middlewich FAB Festival boasts a wide array of artists, activities and attractions for everyone to enjoy – offering a complete sensory experience.

This year, Salinae Field will host craft stalls and kids rides. Meanwhile the canalside between Town Bridge and The Big Lock will be lined with beautifully-decorated narrowboats and trade boats which make up the spectacular Floating Market which offers specialist craft items and boat art.

Returning to this year’s food court will be the ever popular Choccy Churros, Just Thai Kitchen, Yarwoods’ ice cream,  La Vera Pizza, Northwest Game and Little Red Kitchen – as well as a number of vegan and vegetarian options.

Visitors will be happy to see the return of the FAB Beer Festival on the Market Field too, which will be hosted once again by Merlin Brewery. A selection of other drinks will be provided by Beetle Juice Cocktails, The Boston Shakers and a new prosecco bar courtesy of Drop of What You Fancy.

‘Wish Upon A Sparkle’ return to Middlewich FAB Festival for the third year, with face and body glitter to add a touch of shimmer to festival goers’ faces – and, if anything like last year, quite a few beards too!

Performers from a street theatre company based in Cumbria, Fairly Famous Family, will be performing on both Saturday and Sunday.

They have been on quite a journey through the streets, theatres and service stations of the UK, Europe and beyond – with their trademark enthusiasm, professionalism and work ethic, they’ll entertain visitors, young and old.

The Mexon Market will return after the huge success of the “Royal Mexon Street Party”, on Wheelock Street, with traders offering food and crafts. And, of course, the Wheelock Street retailers will be open for business as well.

This year FAB Festival’s traditional parade will also be relocated, starting at Middlewich Leisure Centre, and continuing down Queen Street, on to Hightown, up Lewin Street, past the council offices and finishing as always at the main stage on Market Field.

With an eclectic mix of troupes and groups, the parade brings a cacophony for the senses!

Jonathan Williams, Middlewich town clerk commented: “We are pleased to expand FAB Festival with many family orientated activities.

“The new parade route enables us to include the Mexon Market as part of the festival, which will offer visitors the chance to browse the stalls, alongside the high street retailers.”

Jonathan added: “It’s nice to see many familiar traders returning to Market Field, Salinae and the Floating Market with some new faces as well. There really will be something for everyone.”

More information about this year’s FAB Festival can be found on the free FAB Festival App and via www.fabfestival.co.uk.

Concerts taking place on Saturday and Sunday will continue to have free admission.

A limited number of tickets for Friday 15th June’s concert with Peter Hook & The Light are still available to buy online at www.fabfestival.co.uk.
