Mike Amesbury paid a visit to a major employer in his constituency recently.
The Weaver Vale MP was invited to Forresters in Frodsham, which supplies raw and cooked chicken to the food industry.
Founded in 1972, the company cooks around 60 tonnes of chicken per day.
Mike met with senior staff at the family-owned company, which employs more than 250 people, and was given an insight into their production processes as well as a tour of the facilities.
Mr Amesbury also discussed some of the difficulties they are facing – such as not being able to hire apprentices locally.
Mike said: “The business is going from strength to strength and is a real local success story.
“But I was surprised to learn though that they’ve having trouble recruiting an apprentice for their IT role, surely a really good opportunity for someone who thinks that university might not be the path they want to take.
“How we get young people into industry via apprenticeships is something I’m really passionate about both in my role as shadow employment minister, and Weaver Vale MP.”
