Motability marketing at Swansway

Marketing executives Leah Pitt and Calum Sinclair have both passed their Motability scheme exams with flying colours, and join Swansway Group marketing manager Anna Ling and dealership marketing manager Kim Cartwright in being Motability accredited.

A delighted Leah, who works in the Swansway Motor Group marketing team, explained: “The marketing team felt it was important to understand the challenges facing Motability customers, after all we produce marketing materials to support the sale of Motability scheme cars, and we felt that to really talk to Motability customers in the right way we needed to know more about the scheme.”

With Anna and Kim already accredited, Leah and Calum took up the challenge and are glad they did.

Calum commented: “We were shown a range of videos from the first-person perspective of a Motability scheme customer; the videos highlighted the difficulties that a visually-impaired customer or autistic customer would encounter at different stages of the process.”

“It was really eye-opening and the training was also a great place to explore ideas – it was where we heard about Autism Hour which Crewe SEAT took part in last month,” added Calum.

Focusing on supporting Motability customers has already resulted in Motability Operations nominating the Swansway Motor Group website for the ‘Motability Website of the Year’ award, where the site won highly commended.

Leah added: “During the training, I was shocked to find out that around 6,000 people a day become carers in the UK, including those that look after a family member or a friend.

“That’s a really big number and any one of us could find ourselves in that position if a loved one was taken ill.

“It’s then that you realise how few people, thrust into the role of carer, would know anything at all about the Motability scheme and how it could benefit them and the person they’ll be caring for.

“It really inspired me to spread the word about the Motability scheme, its’ benefits and the better quality of life it could bring to so many people.”

This was Leah’s second Motability course, meaning that she is now fully Motability accredited.

Swansway Motor Group is a family-owned business with 20 dealerships representing 14 brands.

The group is committed to supporting Motability customers and makes a donation to Circus Starr – a circus for disabled and disadvantaged children and their carers for every Motability car sold across the group.

To date, Swansway has donated almost £35k to Circus Starr.
