Newly-elected MP for Crewe and Nantwich, Dr Kieran Mullan attended the first of a series of new social swim sessions he championed for during his election campaign.
Crewe Lifestyle Centre will have a social swim session from midday until 1pm on Fridays, with the time slot being aimed at older swimmers and those with health or mobility challenges.
Dr Mullan campaigned for the weekly swims to be established after meeting a group of swimmers who used to attend a similar session at Flag Lane.
The regular public swimming remains open at the pool, with a number of lanes set aside for the social swim.
Kieran commented: “This swim session is for people that want to swim with a bit more space and a little less pace.
“It was great to see people back in the pool for the first time in a long time.
“I am really pleased that Everybody were open to how they could support even more older and less active people to swim because it is important we keep people active. Thank you to them.
“I would encourage people to come along and to tell friends or relatives about the session if they think it would be a good fit. The pricing is very reasonable.”
