The Heritage Centre, Macclesfield
Saturday 12th January, 7.30pm
Katherine Baker (flutist) and Lucy Wakeford (harpist) are lined up to join the Northern Chamber Orchestra (NCO) in Macclesfield to welcome in the new year, with a concert sure to beat the January blues.
The NCO will accompany these stars of the classical music scene as they play joyful and effervescent pieces by Debussy, Mozart and Fauré alongside works by Mendelssohn and Haydn.
Katherine Baker is currently principal flute with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, having previously held the same position at Manchester’s Hallé Orchestra and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
As well as being a member of The Nash Ensemble of London, Lucy Wakeford is currently principal harp with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, and a member of the Britten Sinfonia. She was previously principal harp with the Philharmonia Orchestra.
Formed in the late 1960s, the Northern Chamber Orchestra is one of the country’s top chamber orchestras.
The orchestra holds its main concert season at Macclesfield’s Heritage Centre and also performs regularly in Buxton and at other venues around the North of England.
Tickets for the concert in Macclesfield are available now from the Northern Chamber Orchestra website and start at £16.
