As we reported back in March (click here) Northwich BID submitted a request for funding via the Tesco Bags of Help scheme, which sees grants raised from the sale of carrier bags awarded to local community projects.
The organisation bagged £1,000 (the third of three tiers) from the community grant scheme, which will be invested into the Northwich Festival of Arts 2018.
The event, which will run throughout July, aims to showcase the cultural and artistic talent that exists in Northwich, with a range of exciting activities lined up to attract visitors into the town, as Northwich BID Manager Jane Hough has outlined.
“The festival will celebrate Northwich’s creativity, diversity and uniqueness and I’m sure people will love the acts and attractions that have been booked and organised.
“This includes activities from a number of creative mediums including art, music, dance, poetry and writing, while there will also be an amazing two-day River Festival organised by the Northwich Rotary Club, a brilliant exhibition at the Memorial Court run by Northwich Art Shop and the ever-popular Northwich Art Trail which is once again being delivered by Visual Arts Cheshire.”
Groundwork’s national chief executive Graham Duxbury praised Tesco’s Bags of Help scheme saying: “Bags of Help continues to enable local communities up and down the UK to improve the local spaces and places that matter to them.
“The diversity of projects that are being funded shows that local communities have a passion to create something great in their area.
“We are pleased to be able to be a part of the journey and provide support and encouragement to help local communities thrive.”
Bags of Help is run in partnership with Groundwork, an environmental charity. It works to help people to realise thousands of projects each year.
The organisation carries out work on tackling climate change, helping people out of fuel poverty, bringing out the best in young people, building stronger communities and getting people back into work.
Northwich BID is currently finalising the programme of events for the Northwich Festival of Arts – more information coming soon!
