Macclesfield Town Council has arranged for an open top bus to carry the league-topping Macclesfield Town Football Club team from the Moss Rose to the Town Hall to celebrate the team’s promotion after becoming champions of National League.

This Sunday (6th May), the open top bus will travel from the club’s ground on London Road, through the town towards the Town Hall, where it will stop on Market Place for the team can celebrate their achievement with fans.

The club will be welcomed by Cllr Beverley Dooley, the mayor of Macclesfield, at a civic reception at the Town Hall.

Cllr Gareth Jones, who volunteers at the club and who raised the suggestion of marking the team’s achievement with the council, commented, “We are all so proud of the whole club.

“The team has performed so well all season and support staff and volunteers have been right behind them working hard.

“I’m a proud supporter of the club and have volunteered at the Moss Rose for years. We are all really looking forward to next season, back in the football league.

“Well done Macc Town!”

Cllr Jones is also working with the town council staff members to organise the event and get everything in place ready for the celebration.

The open top bus will leave the Moss Rose at around 5pm on Sunday 6th May and will be at Market Place from around 5.20pm.
