From 18th-22nd July, RHS Flower Show Tatton Park will return to Cheshire’s 1,000 acre deer park with a bumper year to celebrate the show’s 20th anniversary.
In addition to the picture-perfect gardens, colourful array of plants and one-of-a-kind shopping, there will be plenty of new features to explore from the scary to the spectacular.
Here’s a round-up some of the highlights planned for this year’s show…
The Bee Hive Theatre
Set in a spectacular dome, this brand new feature shines a spotlight on the importance of bees. Learn a new skill with talks and workshops on topics ranging from bee identification and planting for pollinators to making honey cocktails!
Celebrating Northern Spirit
Immerse yourself in a floral tribute to Northern spirit with the BBC North West Tonight Garden, inspired by Tony Walsh’s poem ‘Up Here’ which champions the strength and resilience of the North West following the tragic Manchester bombing in 2017.
The Poisonous Garden
Discover the weird and wonderful world of deadly poisonous plants at the show’s new and unusual exhibit… if you dare! Surround yourself with peril as plants and flowers with hidden deadly charms drip from the ceiling in ‘the poison tunnel’ and try to resist the lure of the hungry carnivorous plants.
There’s plenty of activities to keep children entertained in the new festival-themed Green Fields Family Area, including the Colouring Garden, Woodland Crafts Centre, gardening workshops and Diggerland! And don’t forget – kids go free!*
(*Two children 16 and under free with an accompanying adult. No ticket required.)
The Flower School
New for 2018, The Flower School offers a creative, hands-on experience with an array of talks and workshops on everything floral from flower crowns to growing your own cut flower patch. Local florists and nurseries will be creating seven foot high flower towers, giving show goers the opportunity to vote for their favourite on social media throughout the week.
RHS Tatton Turns Twenty
No birthday would be complete without a party! There’ll be a colourful, floral parade to celebrate two decades of spectacular flower shows at Tatton, with the festivities taking centre stage at the show on Friday 20th July.
Show manager Isobel Coulter commented: “This year is set to be one of the most exciting we have ever seen at RHS Tatton Park as we celebrate a whopping 20 years of a colourful, friendly and fun day out!
“Full of innovative design, hands-on gardening, youth in horticulture, and some of the best growers in the country, 2018 encapsulates exactly what RHS Tatton is all about.
“We look forward to welcoming visitors old and new to join us for a bumper birthday celebration!”
RHS Flower Show Tatton Park will run from 18th – 22nd July 2018.
