State-of-the-art gym facilities come to Knutsford

Leisure trust unveils ‘eGYM’ facility

A new ‘eGYM’ facility has opened in Knutsford, providing instant recognition to users when they return to use equipment on a second (and subsequent) visit.

The launch of the new eGYM branded resistance equipment took place at Knutsford Leisure Centre earlier this year, and was attended by Cheshire East Mayor Arthur Moran.

Knutsford Leisure Centre is the first facility in the North West to adopt the innovative technology behind eGYM resistance equipment.

It’s designed to provide the most effective workout - automatically adjusting weights to suit the user’s body and guiding them through various exercises.

At the end of a workout, eGYM also saves your progress to help you achieve your goals faster.

In addition to the smart new fitness technology, other new additions to the Knutsford gym include cardio and resistance equipment and state-of-the-art spin bikes.

The introduction of the new technology is part of a wider programme of refurbishments at Knutsford Leisure Centre which is a joint investment between Cheshire East Council and Everybody Sport and Recreation.

Cllr Liz Wardlaw, Cheshire East Council cabinet member for health, commented: “Being the first in the authority in the North West to use this new technology just goes to show how committed we are in providing the best user experience to all our residents.

“I expect residents from Knutsford, and further afield, to get health benefits from this intuitive way of delivering leisure facilities.”

Paul Winrow, director of sport and operations for Everybody Sport and Recreation, added: “We are delighted to have been able to fund this significant investment into our Knutsford facility.

“We are committed to providing all residents across Cheshire East with access to modern, high-quality fitness equipment.

“It is clear from the feedback that we have had to date, that this improvement has been well received by both our existing customers and prospective new users of the facility.”

Knutsford Leisure Centre is hosting an open day this weekend (Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th September) to showcase its facilities, free of charge.

There will be group fitness sessions as well as 'open weekend membership offers’ and swimming sessions.
