Macclesfield Cycle Saturday 2018
On Saturday 10th March (10am-2pm) Cycle Saturday will return to Macclesfield town centre.
The free to join event was first held last year and proved to be so popular with the town that organisers have decided to bring it back for 2018.
Supported by Macclesfield Town Council, who organised the inaugural event, Cycle Saturday has now been handed over to the community.
Darren Allgood from Allgood Cycling has picked up the reins, and he is also a member of local cycling group Macclesfield Wheelers who are involved with the event.
People will have the opportunity to pick up cycle route leaflets, talk to a bike doctor about any bike problems, take part in a static cycling challenge, receive cycling safely advice, have a go on a smoothie bike, try out a balance bike and take part in some cycling themed interactive activities.
All activities at the event are free to take part in.
Macclesfield Wheelers will be making an impression with their grand depart from the Market Place at 1pm, in their orange club jerseys.
Macclesfield Town Council has the ambition to make physical activity the easy and fun option for residents and visitors to the town. The council aims to inspire local people to increase their physical activity each day.
Organisers say Macclesfield is the perfect start and finish location for a day’s cycling and the printed cycle routes will encourage people to make the most of the wonderful reception that the town has to offer.
Darren Allgood commented: “Sandwiched between the Peak District and the Cheshire Plain, Macclesfield has lots to offer cyclists.”
He added: “Cycle Saturday is a great opportunity to share information and encourage people to get out on their bikes.”
