When the Rex Cinema in Wilmslow was originally opened in 1936, profits from the first night were donated to the baby unit at Burnage Hospital.
The unit closed in 1980, however the cinema’s new owners have decided to hold their very own charity event (in aid of the Wilmslow Aid Trust) as a nod to the historic launch night.
Due to the significant level of interest in the new cinema, they’ve decided to put on a showing of The Greatest Showman for the lucky winners of a special prize draw.
The preview screening takes place on Wednesday 19th December at 8pm. Entries for the draw cost £5 each, with entries offering the chance of winning two tickets for the preview.
The draw itself will take place on Saturday 15th December, and winners will be notified by email.
That’s not your only way to be a part of the magic, however!
A spokesperson explained: “The Rex is blessed with a wonderful Terrazzo staircase, serving all levels, that is in need of love and we need your help!
“We want to grind and polish each step to return it to its former glory and add high contrast nosings in the only suitable heritage material – brass.
“However this was not in our original budget and we have been amazed by the cost of the brass fittings so have decided to form the ‘Brass Nosing Brigade’!”
To raise funds, they are offering tickets at £100 each to allow guests to see the Rex before it opens to the public.
Those who join the Brass Nosings Brigade will be able to attend a glamorous screening of Colette, starring Keira Knightley, on Thursday 20th December.
They’ll be treated to Champagne and canapés from 7pm, with the film showing at 8pm.
For such an auspicious occasions, the dress code will be black tie.
In addition, each member’s name will be added to a commemorative plaque at the top of the stairs, forever marking their participation in the Brass Nosing Brigade!
