Local arts group, Visual Arts Cheshire, has developed a new project to build upon previous initiatives delivered in the town of Northwich last year.
‘Our Town’ will involve 24 local schools who will be displaying paintings in shop windows from Thursday 8th February until Monday 12th March 2018.
The artwork will celebrate and showcase the town, as well as neighbouring villages, based on the children’s perceptions of their communities.
It follows the Weaver Square vinyl project, which shone a spotlight on local artists and photographers, and the annual art trail which was well received in summer 2017.
The project, which is the brainchild of Phil Carswell from VAC, will be launched by town mayor Cllr Janet Myerscough-Illidge on the Friday 9th February and will be supported by the Northwich Business Improvement District (BID).
The BID will be sponsoring trophies awarded for the most interesting entries along with providing certificates for all of the participating schools.
Phil is delighted by the enthusiasm and support given by schools and local businesses since the idea about the project was initially introduced.
He commented: “Over thirty local shops will be hosting the work, including all the new businesses within Barons Quay, shops the length of Witton Street and also the Memorial Court.
“We are also grateful for the support of Phil Bower at Northwich Art Shop who does so much to promote the arts within the town.
“We hope this will become an annual event along with the Summer Art Trail and encourage interest in the town as it enters an exciting stage in its history, as well as promoting interest in the arts.”
