The Wilmslow Bushido Jujitsu Club is fundraising to take 16 of its junior members to an international competition in Spain this September.
The club’s members will be representing Team GB, and when members from the club attended the same event back in 2016 the six juniors who made the journey came back with an impressive medal haul.
Overall, they won an impressive 9 medals at the top level competition: 2 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze.
The popular local jujitsu club is now very much hoping to continue this success in 2018, and is currently organising a series of fundraising events to help get its team to the event.
The target is to raise £6,400 to cover the cost of the hotel and flights for each competing junior.
They are hosting a number of events and initiatives to reach this target, with around £1,500 already raised and an application submitted for support from Wilmslow Town Council.
The next event is a ‘Cocktails and Canvas’ evening hosted by Unico Lounge on 5th May.
The event will see participants enjoy ‘a night out with a difference’ as they create their very own art work in the social setting of the Grove Street venue.
The evening costs £30 per head and this includes a tapas buffet as well as everything you need for you to produce your work of art.
Artist Kelly will take you step by step through painting – with clear, easy instructions and a follow-the-leader approach. It ideal for beginners or those with experience… but most of all it’ll be fun and help to support local athletes.
It takes place from 7pm, and 100% of proceeds from the evening will go towards sending the team to Gibraltar later this year.
