Wilmslow ladies of to a flying start

With the men’s league hockey not due to restart until next week, Wilmslow ladies certainly opened 2019 with a perfect set of results. All five teams won, with a total of 25 goals scored


Bolton Ladies’ 1s – 1

Wilmslow Ladies’ 1s – 2

In a dour match all three goals were bizarrely own goals.

Although not at their best, Wilmslow exerted most pressure and just about deserved the three points to maintain their lead at the top of the table.


Wilmslow Ladies’ 2s – 6

Knutsford Ladies’ 1s – 0

In the early stages of the game this looked a close match but eventually Di ‘Sniffer’ Law broke the deadlock.

This was followed by a goal from Becca Healy which brought the score to 2-0 at half time.

In the second half the Tangerines turned up the heat and the midfield combined well to overwhelm Knutsford with a further four goals, from Tracey Moir (2), Fi Campbell and Di Law.


Wilmslow Ladies’ 3s vs Winnington Park Ladies’ 2s

Wilmslow Ladies’ 3s beat Winnington Park 2s away to consolidate their place in a three-horse race at the top.


Wilmslow Ladies’ 4s vs Runcorn Ladies’ 2s

Wilmslow Ladies’ 4s had the best result of the day beating table topping Runcorn 2s by 6-1, each goal being scored by a different player.


Wilmslow Ladies’ 5s vs Sandbach Ladies’ 2s

The Wilmslow Ladies’ 5s youngsters comprehensively overran Sandbach 2s to win 7-0.
