7.45pm, Saturday 7th December 2019
Evans Theatre, Wilmslow Leisure Centre
A warm seasonal welcome to all for Wilmslow Symphony Orchestra’s Christmas concert, a long-established favourite in the Wilmslow seasonal calendar.
It’s a wonderful seasonal bash, with classical favourites and Christmas specials and carols for audience and orchestra.
The old favourites include the first Peer Gynt Suite, Borodin’s colourful and exhilarating Polovtsian Dances from Prince Igor, and a favourite long associated with Christmas, the overture to Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel.
Over the years the orchestra has built up its own special Christmas specialities.
Here they are again: Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride, the ‘Merry Jazzed-Up Christmas’ by principal trombone Gareth Brown, and Christmas carols where you can join in, expertly arranged by clarinettist Geoff Thomason.
And if this doesn’t whet your appetite, then maybe the Christmas raffle will, with lots of prizes, including a Christmas hamper!
WSO is delighted to welcome back conductor Tom Newall, and the orchestra will be led by Rosy Williams.
As always, the concert will be in the Evans Theatre in Wilmslow Leisure Centre.
There are plenty of parking places, as well as good disabled access and good visibility for the audience.
The concert takes place at 7.45pm on Saturday 7th December 2019.
Tickets cost £12 (concessions £10, under 18s only £2) and can be bought at the door, from the ticket secretary at 01925 756 144, or through the Wilmslow Symphony Orchestra website www.wilmsloworchestra.co.uk.
