Winsford Women’s Day 2018

Women from Winsford and the surrounding area are set to celebrate International Women’s Day with a focus on the centenary of the first women’s votes in the UK.

Organiser Kate Blakemore expects the second annual event of its kind in Winsford to attract even more people than the inaugural event.

Motherwell Cheshire will be hosting a series of inspirational speakers and workshops, set to take place at Winsford Academy on Saturday 3rd March (10am-4pm).

International Women’s Day (8th March 2018) is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

The 2018 International Women’s Day theme is ‘Press for Progress’, with Winsford Women’s Day adopting the themes of celebrating 100 years of votes for women and women in sport.

Motherwell Cheshire is now in its second year of organising Winsford Women’s Day, and its fourth year of organising Crewe Women’s Day.

The celebration is developing into a flagship event for the charity who support mums across Cheshire.

MP Antoinette Sandbach will open the Winsford event, with a variety of talks and workshops to follow.

Demonstrations from Winsford Diamonds Girls FC and interactive sessions from Fabb Fitness will take place to fit in with the women in sport theme.

Kate commented: “I’m thrilled that we have managed to put together another excellent line-up of inspirational speakers for this event in Winsford.

“It’s also a chance for women to become familiar with the female-centred services available in the area, to help support with their mental and physical health.

“I’m incredibly proud of the work that the Motherwell team have undertaken in preparation for the event, and the ways in which the speakers and organisations will work in inspiring and motivating people within our area to progress.”

In 2017, Kate won the Health and Wellbeing Award at The Everybody Awards, due to the accomplishments she has achieved as CEO of Motherwell Cheshire.

During this time, Motherwell Cheshire has become a registered charity, in its mission to provide mothers the tools to rehabilitate their lives.
