We trade-in our phones at the end of their contracts, we part-exchange our cars when we buy a new one… and now, it seems, we can ensure our Barbour wax jackets are ‘Re-Loved’ too!

Barbour, the brand that is synonymous with the outdoorsy autumnal middle-class loveliness, is celebrating its 125th year this year by introducing the eco-friendly swap scheme.

A company spokesperson said: “We’re excited to offer the opportunity for you to trade in your old Barbour waxed jacket (yes, we know they never wear out!) for a discount on a brand new one.”

Customers simply send in their old Barbour waxed jacket (instructions via Barbour’s website), or drop it off at a designated Re-Loved drop off point in selected Barbour retail stores.

They then receive a voucher for £50 off a new Barbour waxed jacket – these can be purchased online or in store at participating retail stores.

Barbour promises: “We will give your old jacket a bit of TLC in our factory in South Shields, ready to be recycled and passed onto a new owner, who will continue to love and cherish it.”

So, whether its your old Barbour Bedale or Barbour Beadnell (or any other Barbour waxed jacket you’ve decided you’re ready to part with… we know, the struggle is real) then you can trade them in and treat yourself to a brand new Barbour waxed jacket!

Or, if you’re looking for something of a bargain, you can snap up your own Barbour waxed jacket at a fraction of its original price by scouring the Re-Loved pages of the Barbour website.

Either way, it’s a great chance to ensure our cherished jackets continue their rural adventures whilst marking five generations of family ownership of a British institution, based in the South Shields since 1894.
