An evening of champagne and sparkling wine – featuring Taittinger Comtes de Champagne 2006

Thursday 6th June in The Roof Lounge at Restaurant 1539

Ready to enjoy now – and with ageing potential of at least 20 years to come – the House of Taittinger’s top champagne is Comtes De Champagne – first produced in 1952.

It is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes from six Grand Cru sites in the Côte de Blancs.

This is finely aromatic, rich, creamy Blanc de Blancs at its best… although patience is required as the wine should not be approached for at least ten years!

In 2006, Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger succeeded in buying the winery from the Starwood Hotel Group and bringing it under family control once again.

He also made two fabulous ‘tête de cuvées’.

The 2006 Comtes de Champagne, in particular, is going to make a very strong case for inclusion in any conversation about the all-time great vintages of Comtes.

The Wine School of Cheshire has acquired limited stock of Taittinger Comtes de Champagne to share exclusively with its guests in 2019.

You can join them in The Roof Lounge at Restaurant 1539, overlooking Chester’s historic racecourse.

This amazing outside space is exclusively yours for the evening and you’ll discover five specially-selected champagnes and sparkling wines paired with mouthwatering canapés from Restaurant 1539.

Your tasting with The Wine School of Cheshire will begin with their premium house fizz (The Gusbourne Estate Brut Reserve 2014) and you’ll taste three further champagnes or sparkling wines, including a non-vintage champagne and premium cava, before finishing the evening with a glass of Taittinger Comtes de Champagne 2006.

All the sparkling wines offered on the night will be made ‘method traditionelle’ and the evening will be Prosecco free.
