Following the record temperatures and ensuing record crowds at the Cinema on the Carrs 2018, the unpredictable British weather has seemingly sought to get its own back in 2019.
This weekend’s Cinema on The Carrs event – due to take place on Saturday 8th June – has been postponed due to anticipated heavy rainfall, and now predicted gusty winds, over the weekend.
Martin Watkins, chairman of Wilmslow Town Council explained: “It’s highly disappointing when conditions intervene in this way.
“The outdoor location in the park is what makes the event so we just have to work with whatever the elements throw at us always having greatest regard for the safety or residents.”
Martin added: “We will be working with our commercial partners in order to try to arrange an alternative date during the summer that doesn’t conflict with other local community events and will make an announcement as soon as we are able.”
No information was given as to whether or not the duck race will be going ahead (presumably it’d be lovely weather for ducks – !!! – but not so for spectators!)
