Nantwich Museum first to gain local NHS Self Care Award

Nantwich Museum is the first organisation to be recognised by the local NHS for its work in sharing key health and wellbeing messages with staff, volunteers and visitors.

NHS South Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and NHS Vale Royal CCG have presented the museum with a Bronze Self Care Award, showing they have started on the path to improving the health of local people.

Self care is about keeping fit and healthy, understanding when you can look after yourself, when a pharmacist can help and when to get advice from your GP or another health professional.

If you have a long-term condition, self care is about understanding that condition and how to live with it.

Noreen Caldwell, public engagement and involvement manager at the CCGs, said: “These awards are key in spreading the importance of self care; empowering our local people to look after themselves and knowing the best ways to do this.

“We are delighted that Elliot Goodger, the museum manager and his staff embraced our Bronze Self Care Award and with the support of our Self Care Champions, we look forward to working with Nantwich Museum to achieve their Silver and Gold levels in the future.”

Noreen added: “We’re now working with more places, with schools and other educational establishments sharing our key self care messages, helping us to reach more people across South Cheshire and Vale Royal.

Elliot Goodger, Nantwich Museum Manager, commented: “The museum is at the heart of our community.

“We are part of it and will do what we can to help improve the health and wellbeing of local people.

“We’re continuing to work with Noreen and the CCGs to make sure we can hit the silver and gold standards.”
