A new £6 million sports centre building project is now complete at The Grange School in Hartford.
The Grange Sports Centre will provide students with outstanding facilities for their sporting education as well as providing the local community with a new sporting and fitness hub to use.
Sport Centre Opens with National Netball Success
It didn’t take long for the first students to make use of the impressive new facilities as the school hosted the ‘Sisters and Sport’ national netball finals.
Schools from across the country travelled to The Grange to participate in the school’s impressive, new sporting home.
The occasion was topped off when The Grange’s U11 team, who had qualified for the finals, represented the school at home.
In a nervy game that went backwards and forward, the Grange girls played some excellent counter-attacking netball and combined with some accurate and calm finishing they pulled away in the third quarter to build a seven goal lead.
Opponents, Putney High School, came back strong and in the fourth quarter there were only three goals in it.
The Grange held their nerve though and when the final buzzer went, looking up at the new scoreboard, it read Grange 24-21 Putney.
There was a lively atmosphere as the proud parents watched on from the viewing gallery cheering and clapping throughout, hopefully just the first of many future noisy sporting celebrations for The Grange.
Facilities Fit for 2019
The Grange Sports Centre has been built to provide students and the community with a vast array of sporting and fitness opportunities.
The pinnacle of the building is the large, breath-taking, multi-purpose sports hall.
It can be used as a premier netball court, four cricket lanes, four badminton courts, indoor hockey and football pitches as well as a full size basketball court.
You cannot help but notice the impressive climbing wall also in the sports hall and with overhangs as well, it will definitely test ambitious climbers.
With a viewing gallery on the second floor it also provides parents the chance to cheer on their children in matches.
For those looking to improve their fitness, there is a gym with the latest equipment including multi-gym systems, strength machines, exercise bikes, rowing trainers and treadmills.
A spacious dance studio can accommodate for all types of dance, from ballet to street. It will also be able to hold classes for those who prefer to get active this way.
The new sports centre adds to The Grange’s other outdoor facilities; a floodlit multi-use games area and all weather pitch as well as the sports pavilion with full size rugby and football pitches. With four changing rooms and catering facilities, local clubs, professional teams or those looking for a fun children’s birthday party will be able to hire the Sports Centre.
The Grange School will complete their move into the sport centre over Easter, ensuring it is ready for all students to start using for the summer term.
Then over the summer holidays, they will be preparing it to open up to members of the public from September, who will be able to use the facilities outside of school-time.
The Grange School is an independent school for children aged 4-18 in the heart of Cheshire.
