Amazon Lockers have arrived at Booths stores, including Knutsford, with plans for a total of 18 of the retailer’s 28 stores to house the online delivery firm’s collection points.

Abby Talbot, head of Booths brand, said: “This is a great addition to Booths.”

He explained: “It means that customers who shop online at Amazon can use the secure, self-service lockers to pick up their packages at their local Booths store.”

“This will have a positive impact on the communities around our stores as having easy access to an Amazon Locker means that people who aren’t in their homes for the majority of the day can order online, with the reassurance that they can collect their items in store, at a time that suits them.”

Alongside the introduction of Amazon Lockers, Booths is also working with AmazonFresh to deliver a selection of quality products to shoppers down south – including Booths own brand products as well as speciality products.

Until recently, Booths has been an exclusively northern chain, but since partnering with AmazonFresh their products have become available to customers in over 300 postcodes across London, Surrey, Hampshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.

Booths is working with Amazon to make more of their products available across the UK, and have recently launched on Amazon Prime Now meaning a range of products are also available in selected cities including: Glasgow, Newcastle, Leeds, Liverpool, Birmingham, Surrey, Sheffield, Portsmouth, Southampton, Hertfordshire, Manchester and London.

Booths is a family owned and operated supermarket with stores across Lancashire, Yorkshire, Cumbria, Cheshire and Greater Manchester.

In November 2017 is was the subject of takeover speculation, but no further news on this has since emerged.

A spokesperson at the time would neither confirm not deny the rumours, saying: “Booths has been retailing for over 170 years and it remains a very strong, resilient and well-loved brand.

“One of our strengths has been our ability to adapt to changing market conditions and naturally, we always keep our strategic options open.”
