Members of Wilmslow Dean Rotary Club have renewed their calls for participants at this year’s Swimathon at Wilmslow Leisure Centre.
The Rotarians will once again stage their fundraising event next month and are delighted that over 20 teams have already signed up.
Last year 120 swimmers and 22 teams raised over £4,000 and the club members are hoping to attract even more participants for 2018 to increase funds in support of local charities and worthy community groups.
The entry fee is set at just £15 per team of swimmers and all sponsorship money raised by each team will be retained by them to support their own chosen good cause or causes.
Weekend sessions are on 24th March at 3.30pm to 5.30pm and 25th March at 5pm to 7pm.
Midweek school sessions will take place on 21st March at 1pm to 3pm and 22nd March at 10am to midday.
The deadline for entries is 14th March.
Organiser Paul Almond said: “We were delighted with the support and enthusiasm of the participating teams last year.”
“Monies raised from the event enabled us to further support self-esteem and confidence projects in schools, canal boat trips for the seniors, hearing dogs for deaf people and the new Rota-Gym equipment recently installed in The Carrs park.
“We encourage local businesses, schools and community groups to sign up now and join us in our fun with a purpose event.”
