Winsford Town Council’s annual ‘Salt Fair’ event was a great success last week, with people of all ages coming together to celebrate the history of the town.
Throughout the five-day event, the spirit of the local community was embraced, and organisers hope that visitors will be encouraged to return for other events planned over the coming months.
Visitors to Winsford Salt Fair were treated to a number of fun-filled family events.
It began with the reading of the Royal Charter by the civic party on Wednesday 12th September, before mayor Cllr Gina Lewis and the Salt Queen officially opened the Salt Fair with the civic opening event on Thursday 13th September.
Dr Diablo’s Sideshow provided guests with entertainment across the weekend.
The Mikron Theatre Company (believed to be the only theatre company in the world which tours by narrowboat!) performed its highly-popular ‘Get Well Soon’ show in the town centre on Saturday evening, and the history of the town was on display in the event marquee.
With a fun fair, troupe dancing and a flea circus also on offer, the Winsford Salt Fair proved to be an event enjoyed by adults and children alike.
Cllr Gina Lewis, town mayor, commented: “A lot of planning went into the event – and we’re so pleased with the results!
“We’ve been overwhelmed with the response and the feedback we’ve received has really made it all worth it.
“It was a fun-filled weekend that was designed for all the family and we really feel like it helped the community come together.
“For that, we are so grateful and we hope the public continues to visit Winsford for a number of a number of equally enjoyable events that we’ve got planned for the coming months!”
